How to Avoid Fear of Missing Out

We believe that now is the perfect time to address the concept of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). There are only two outcomes of FOMO—it’s either you overcommit or fail to fulfill your commitments. We firmly believe that this is an unhealthy practice. In most cases, the motivation for your actions or inaction can be made out of fear of losing the chance to engage in other experiences. With this attitude, you can never achieve the satisfaction and contentment you should have in life.

To promote positive mental health, check out a few of the best practices we have listed so you can overcome your fear of missing out.

  • Keep it slow.

Moving at a faster pace is beneficial for our best interest. However, it is also best to keep things slow. Take your time when it comes to eating, talking, driving, and engaging in your daily routines. Always remember to slow down./

  • Learn how to say “no”.

Although this one is just a short-letter word, often we find ourselves having a hard time saying it. To prevent anxiety and depression, starting today, be willing to say “no” to more things. Only focus on things that enhance the quality of your experiences.

  • Always go for the experience.

FOMO sometimes comes from envy, and of course, envy does no good. If you fail to recognize the opportunities available in your life, envy can easily become resentment. Focus on the experience, adventure, fun, and connection rather than being too proud and boastful about mere objects and symbols.
